For the fifth time in as many years, the Daphne Trojan girls’ wrestling team secured a top-two finish at the AHSAA state championship tournament in Huntsville. Daphne became the first team to win a Red Map trophy in the Class 6A-7A division now that the AHSAA has sanctioned girls’ wrestling as a championship sport. Four Trojans (McKenzie Nguyen, Kimber Alford, Kalyse Hill and Taliah Wade) won individual state titles and two more (Alanah Girard and Bella Harris) finished as runners-up.

The newest member of the Virginia Cavaliers hails from Spanish Fort as Brady Wilson announced his transfer commitment in mid-December. Wilson started 31 games at center over the last three years for the UAB Blazers and didn’t allow a sack over 542 passing snaps last season.
