Foley's Perry Thompson as well as Riley Leonard and Blayne Myrick are just some of the Baldwin County alumni who have made their names known early and often in the 2024 college football season. Thompson recorded his first collegiate touchdown on a 70-yard catch from Payton Throne that helped the former Foley Lion be Pro Football Focus’ third-highest graded receiver in college football for Week 1. Leonard helped Notre Dame score a big win over Purdue where the Fairhope alum became the first quarterback since 2016 to throw for more than 100 yards, rush for more than 100 yards and score 3 rushing touchdowns in the first half. Myrick, the team leader with 25 total tackles, was recently named the weekly winner of South Alabama's No. 5 jersey awarded to a player “who embodies the values, culture and tradition of the program.”

Leonard was named to three watch lists for a second-straight year, including the Maxwell Award (best player), Davey O’Brien Award (best quarterback) and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm (top upperclassman quarterback) gearing up for his senior season with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Wilson was among the 40 best centers in the nation and earned his second-consecutive spot on the Rimington Trophy Watch List before his final season with the UAB Blazers. Both Leonard and Wilson will also serve as team captains.

The Spanish Fort Toros earned a Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association for the seventh-straight year after the team maintained a year-long GPA of 3.3 or higher.
