The 2024 Meeting of the Minds, founded by the international Parrot Heads in Paradise club to celebrate Jimmy Buffett's lifestyle and legacy, had its application for public assembly approved by Gulf Shores City Council on Sep 9.

The Meeting of the Minds will be held Oct. 22-27 at The Hangout, LuLu's and the Flora-Bama. The Hangout location will use public space at the end of Hwy. 59 for their box office to avoid spilling out onto the surrounding roadways and parking lots.

"Last year, they used a portion of the area from the north, and it just didn't seem as big of an area," said Grant Brown, who presented the application to the council.

This will be the second year that Meeting of the Minds will be held in Gulf Shores after being held in Key West for 30 years. Tickets to the event are only available for purchase by members of Parrot Heads in Paradise fan club.

The event will feature live music, auctions, craft vendors, book signings and donation drives according to the public assembly application.
