Baldwin County alumni are set to be on the world stage together Saturday morning when Letitia and Levenia Sim swim for Singapore in the 4x100-meter medley relay as part of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

State champions during their time in the pool as Spanish Fort Toros, the Sim sisters have represented Singapore in previous world events but were set for their Olympic debuts in Paris. The 4x100-meter medley relay is scheduled to start at 5:52 a.m. Saturday morning where Singapore is in Lane 8 of Heat 2 with a seed time of 4:02.88.

Letitia, a 2021 high school graduate, also competed individually in the 100- and 200-meter breaststroke races earlier in the week. She owns the national long-course records in those events (1:06.36 and 2:24.15, respectively) as well as the 50-meter breaststroke (30.92) and 200-meter individual medley (2:13.76).

Levenia graduated from Baldwin County Virtual School this year and had her application to change her nationality approved just in time to compete in the Olympics, according to SwimSwam.

In one of Levenia’s first tastes of international competition, she earned top-10 finishes in the 50- and 100-meter backstroke races during last summer’s Southeast Asian Games. She is the owner of short-course national records in the 50- (26.89), 100- (58.80) and 200-meter backstroke (2:09.44)

The Sim sisters teamed up with Quah Ting and Quah Jing Wen to not only earn their spot in the Olympic 4x100-meter medley relay but also set a national record together. The pair of swimming sisters crossed the finish line in 4:02.88 to secure their qualification.

After the Olympic competition concludes, the Sim sisters will both swim collegiately in Power 4 conferences where Levenia will start her career with the Stanford Cardinal, who are moving to the Atlantic Coast Conference following the dissolution of the Pac-12.

Letitia, already a three-time individual All-American with the Michigan Wolverines, took an Olympic redshirt year for the 2023-24 season and is set to return to campus this fall with two years of eligibility remaining according to SwimSwam. She was named to the second-team All-Big Ten and was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree as a sophomore.
