Clarke County Bulldogs at Bayshore Christian Eagles
The Bayshore Christian Eagles are set to land home this week as they prepare to host their first varsity football game against the Clarke County Bulldogs within Class 2A Region 1. Kickoff is scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. at Fairhope Municipal Stadium.
Head coach Phil Lazenby and Bayshore Christian played four junior-varsity games last season in the program’s inaugural season. The Eagles already earned their first varsity victory with a 28-7 win over McIntosh on the road in Week 2. They also earned a Week 0 win over Fruitdale, 35-12.
Daphne Trojans at Foley Lions
Last year, Daphne’s win over Foley secured a playoff spot in the Trojans’ final region game of the season. This year, it will be just the second region contest for both teams where Daphne enters 0-1 and Foley enters 1-0 in the playoff standings so far.
Overall, the Lions are out to their first 3-0 start since 2015 which led to a postseason berth. The Trojans own the lead in the all-time series with a 21-7 edge according to the Alabama High School Football Historical Society.
W.S. Neal Eagles at Orange Beach Makos
The Orange Beach Makos will look to wash away two non-region losses in a row as they take on a new opponent within Class 4A Region 1 in W.S. Neal. The Eagles spent the last two seasons at the Class 3A level when the Makos stepped up to Class 4A following their first two years in Class 2A.
Now, the teams’ first meeting will go toward the playoff standings where Orange Beach is looking for its first postseason berth since 2022. W.S. Neal enters 0-2 overall and finished 0-10 in 2021, its last year in Class 4A.
