*This story has been updated to include the fact that Daphne has now found a 10th opponent to play.*

The Daphne football program may be without a tenth opponent on its schedule after the Trojans and Hillcrest mutally agreed to cancel their non-region contest, which was slated for Friday, Oct. 30, in Tuscaloosa.

With Daphne residing in 6A Region 1 and the unbeaten Patriots being part of 5A Region 3, the game would have had no impact on region standing or playoff seeding. Both sides are also notably leading their respective regions.

The teams were set to square off for the fourth time in their history and the first since Round 1 of the 2014 AHSAA playoffs. The Trojans hold a 2-1 all-time record in the series.

As a result, Daphne's rivalry matchup with Fairhope on Friday may end up being the team's regular-season finale, unless another opponent reveals itself prior to next week.

Of course, Kenny King's team has also already locked up a postseason berth, so an extra week of rest before playoffs begin may not be a negative development.

UPDATE:

Daphne has scheduled a road game against Tate (FL) for next Thursday night.

The Aggies are currently 4-2 on the season.
