Wetlands Compliance Workshops set for August in Mobile, Baldwin counties

Posted

The Alabama Coastal Foundation will offer its Wetlands Compliance Workshops in Mobile and Baldwin counties this August, continuing its biennial program held in even years to guide professionals working on land use issues. The workshops provide current information on wetland regulation, permitting and compliance requirements and are designed to support accurate, practical decision-making in development and environmental planning. Participants who complete the full course receive continuing education credits.

This year’s program includes only two sessions, scheduled for Aug. 6 and Aug. 18, and organizers are encouraging early registration due to limited availability. Registration is available at www.joinacf.org/wetlands-workshops.

The workshops focus on helping participants define and identify wetlands, understand permitting requirements with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and navigate state regulations and policies. Attendees also review compliance case studies that illustrate how the regulatory process works in practice.

Designed as professional education on the legal and environmental logistics of land development, the sessions use real-world examples to support learning for lawyers, realtors, contractors and developers. Instruction is provided by experts from the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Alabama Department of Environmental Management, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Hand Arendall Harrison Sale and Thompson Engineering.

The first workshop will be held Thursday, Aug. 6 at the Weeks Bay Reserve Tonsmeire Resource Center, 11525 US-98 in Fairhope. The registration deadline for this session is July 28.

The second workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 18 at the Mobile Area Association of Realtors, 2827 Airport Blvd. in Mobile. The registration deadline is Aug. 4.
