Hurricanes Mattress Outlet in Foley has joined U-Haul Co. of Alabama’s network of independent neighborhood dealers, bringing U-Haul rental services to the local community.

Located at 1909 N. McKenzie St., Hurricanes Mattress Outlet will offer U-Haul trucks and other essential moving equipment to customers. The business is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

U-Haul has partnered with independent dealers to provide rental equipment to do-it-yourself movers since 1945. Today, more than 23,000 dealers across the United States and Canada generate supplemental income through their U-Haul affiliations, according to the company. Customers who rent from a U-Haul dealer directly support an independent small business in their community.

U-Haul said its neighborhood dealers are not franchises because no financial investment is required to become a dealer. Instead, the independent businesses commit a portion of their lot space to U-Haul equipment and dedicate part of their time to helping meet the mobility needs of customers in their communities.

U-Haul also has introduced its 1-Year Storage Price Lock at U-Haul-owned and -operated facilities throughout the United States and Canada. The program provides customers with a fixed rental rate for one year without a price increase on their storage unit.

The company says the program is intended to provide cost certainty as national competitors face scrutiny over pricing practices involving introductory rates, frequent price increases and hidden fees. U-Haul said it does not charge administrative fees or deposits for its storage rentals.

New customers renting a self-storage unit and existing customers who rent additional units are eligible for the 1-Year Price Lock.
