American Legion Eastern Shore Post 199 is bringing local golfers together for its first annual golf tournament Oct. 15 at Quail Creek Golf Course, with a day of competition and fellowship planned to raise money for local veterans and the post’s building fund.

The four-person scramble will feature a variety of contests, including two longest-drive holes, two closest-to-the-pin holes and two hole-in-one opportunities. One hole-in-one prize gives golfers a chance to win $25,000 in cash, sponsored by Beth and Tom Johnston, Vacation Planners with Dream Vacations. The other offers a chance to win a car, sponsored by Tameron Gulf Coast. Tournament materials state there will be one winner for each hole-in-one prize.

The day will begin with registration, warm-ups, a silent auction and lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., followed by announcements and a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. The silent auction will close at 4:30 p.m., with an awards ceremony scheduled for 4:45 p.m.

The tournament costs $125 per golfer or $500 for a four-person team. The fee includes green fees and a cart, range balls, a swag bag and lunch. Golfers can register individually without having a full team.

Registration forms are available at www.easternshorepost199.org and can be mailed with payment to American Legion Eastern Shore Post 199, PO Box 473, Fairhope, AL 36533. Checks should be made payable to American Legion Eastern Shore Post 199. Players are asked to provide an honest handicap when registering.

Century Bank is listed as a tournament sponsor.
