Communities across the Gulf Coast will honor the nation's servicemembers with parades, ceremonies, concerts and special tributes in the days surrounding Veterans Day.
From solemn prayer services and patriotic performances to free admissions and family events, residents will have any opportunities to show gratitude and recognize the sacrifices of veterans and active-duty military.
The following is a roundup of scheduled events.
What: The City of Robertsdale and George P. Thames Senior Center will host a Veterans Day ceremony with guest speaker state Rep. Donna Givens, a certificate and pinning ceremony and lunch.
When: Friday, Nov. 7, 11 a.m.

What: The City of Loxley will host a luncheon honoring veterans. Space is limited. Reserve by calling (251) 964-7733.

What: Historic Blakeley State Park will host its annual Veterans Day program with artillery demonstrations, a Civil War cruise, lecture by Kent Masterson Brown, a grave dedication ceremony and food available for purchase. Visit www.blakeleypark.com.

What: The City of Fairhope will hold its annual Veterans Day parade honoring military veterans. The parade will include veterans organizations, military vehicles, the Fairhope High School band and Daphne High School's ROTC. Fairhope's Veteran of the Year will lead the procession. A light breakfast for veterans and parade participants will be served at 8:30 a.m. in the civic center lobby.

What: Tropic Falls will offer special Veterans Day Weekend admission deals. Veterans and active-duty military receive a free day pass with valid military ID. Military families and friends receive 25% off up to four day passes when purchased by a veteran or active-duty service member. Offers must be redeemed in person.

What: Elberta will host a Veterans Day parade with lineup at 10:30 a.m. and the parade beginning at 11 a.m. The route travels south on Illinois Street to Hwy. 98 East, north on County Road 83, west on Oak Street back to Chicago Street and ending at Elberta School. What: Perdido Key will host its first Veterans Day boat parade along Ole River. Boaters are invited to decorate vessels in red, white and blue. The parade includes stops at local waterfront businesses and ends with an afterparty at Flora-Bama Yacht Club and Ole River Grill at 3 p.m. Awards will be given for best decorated boats. What: Daphne will honor veterans with a ceremony featuring guest speaker John Kilpatrick with Vets Recover.

What: The North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce will host a Veterans Day program with breakfast, a parade through downtown Bay Minette and ceremonies honoring veterans.

What: Veterans Memorial Park Foundation invites military personnel and the public to a Veterans Day ceremony featuring keynote speaker Capt. Lee Hansen, retired U.S. Navy, music by the Blue Anchor Belles and presentations including the Bud Day Award and Marine Aviation Memorial Tower bell ringing.

What: American Legion Post 99 will host its annual Veterans Day parade and wreath ceremony. The event begins at Max Griffin Park and follows a route through Foley. A ceremony and free lunch for veterans will follow at American Legion Post 99.

What: A patriotic program honoring veterans featuring music, presentations by Veterans Day Essay Contest winners, a keynote address by the Distinguished Young Woman of the Year and a Parade of Flags with fourth-grade students from Mobile and Baldwin counties. Seating is limited.
