The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Club at Baldwin County High School will host a jambalaya fundraiser Oct. 28 to support 6-year-old Rosalynn Randall, who is awaiting a life-saving liver transplant.
The fundraiser will take place during lunch, with $7 bowls of chicken and Conecuh sausage jambalaya served with rice. All proceeds will benefit COTA for Rosalynn, a campaign helping the family cover transplant-related expenses.
Community members who are not attending the school can pick up their bowls outside the cafeteria near the student parking lot from 11-11:20 a.m.
Randall has Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency Disorder, a rare genetic condition that has caused severe scarring of her liver. Her liver can no longer function adequately on its own, and she is on the transplant waiting list at Children’s of Alabama. In July, she was rushed to the emergency room after waking up in pain and vomiting blood.
Her family has partnered with the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) to raise $250,000 for transplant-related costs not covered by insurance, recovery expenses, travel, lodging and lifelong medical care. Randall’s medications and checkups alone are expected to cost about $8,000 annually.
Community members can support the campaign at https://cota.org/cotaforrosalynn/our-story/ or purchase a bowl of jambalaya at the Oct. 28 fundraiser.
