Mobile riders will trade in leather for linen Sunday as the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride returns to town with a vintage flair and a modern mission: raising money and awareness for men’s health.
The local edition of the global ride will begin May 18, with hosts Maurice Laroque-Turgeau and Michael Steiber leading the pack. Participants are encouraged to register at www.gentlemansride.com, suit up in their finest, and polish their classic or vintage-style motorcycles for a day that celebrates camaraderie and cause.
“This is more than a ride — it’s a statement,” Laroque-Turgeau said in a news release. “We’re bringing style, community and a powerful cause together to make an impact, and Mobile is proud to be part of the global ride family.”
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, launched in 2012, now spans more than 1,000 cities worldwide. The event benefits the Movember Foundation and supports initiatives in prostate cancer research and men’s mental health, making it the largest motorcycle charity ride of its kind.
Mobile’s event is backed by local sponsors including Laroque Motorsports, Rosie’s 1901 Trading Post and Bill-E’s Restaurant. Riders can expect a well-organized experience with Southern charm, stylish crowds and a strong show of community support.
