Thousands of runners are expected to lace up for the 18th Annual GO Run 5K Race and 1-Mile Fun Run on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Hancock Whitney Stadium, 500 Stadium Drive.
The event, presented by the Catranis Family Charitable Foundation, raises money for gynecologic cancer research at the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute. According to the event page, proceeds help fund advancements in early detection, prevention and treatment, made possible through long-standing community support.
The 5K begins at 8 a.m., followed by the Fun Run at 9 a.m. Runners and walkers can register individually or as part of a team. Team awards will be given for Highest Fundraising Team, Most Team Spirit, Best Dressed Team and Largest Team. Individual honors include overall, masters, grandmasters, senior grandmasters, race walker and adaptive athlete divisions. Age group awards will be presented in categories from 9-and-under through 80-plus.
Fun Run finishers will receive ribbons, with the top male and female participants earning special recognition.
Packet pick-up will be available Friday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the SGA Pavilion, as well as race morning from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at the same location.
After the race, participants can enjoy sponsor booths, food and beverage tents stocked with donated refreshments, a kids area with inflatables and free onsite health services. The Mitchell Cancer Institute will provide skin screenings and self-conducted HPV testing.
