The Admirals racked up 108 points with multiple top-five finishers in four events — including three individual state titles — on top of relay wins in the 4x400 and 4x800.

Avery Therrell (2:19.87 for a school record), Annie Midyett (2:22.30) and Catherine Doyle (2:22.91) swept the podium in the 800-meter run. Doyle then won the 1600-meter run (5:10.89) and the 3200-meter run (11:28.23) with school-record times where Shelby Fargason finished third in the 1600 (5:16.73) and second in the 3200 (11:32.63).

Final medal count

Across both male and female competitors, Bayside Academy also led the Baldwin County medal count with 11 of the 29 medals won by local competitors. Foley and Elberta were next with five total medals, followed by Gulf Shores (4), Spanish Fort (3) and Fairhope (1).

After nine more returned with Bayshore Christian from the Class 1A-3A meet in Cullman, Baldwin County’s state representatives earned 38 total podium finishes at the final track competition of the AHSAA season.

Class 1A

Junior Caden Phillippi swept the distance races for the Eagle boys’ team, including the 800- (1:59.57), 1600- (4:36.05) and 3200-meter (10:00.45) runs where sophomore Jonah Elliot was right behind him for silver in the 1600 (4:47.84) and 3200 (10:41.90). Eighth-grader Henry Barber joined them on the 3200-meter podium with a 10:42.14 for bronze in addition to a fourth-place finish in the 1600 (4:50.85) to help the Bayshore Christian boys’ team finish fourth overall in Class 1A.

His time of 10.52 from Friday’s qualifying heat extended the school record he set at sectionals and also ranked as the top time in Alabama this season regardless of classification according to athletic.net.
