From shrimp and German brats to ghost hunts and genealogy talks, Baldwin County is packed with fall fun and unique events that highlight the community’s spirit.
Families can enjoy festivals, parades of local vendors, bike rescues and Halloween thrills, while history buffs and book lovers will find plenty of opportunities to learn and celebrate. With something happening in nearly every corner of the county, there’s always a reason to get out and enjoy the season.
Here’s a look at what’s happening across the Gulf Coast this week.

What: The National Shrimp Festival returns to Gulf Shores with food, art and music. More than 300 vendors will be on site and two stages will host live entertainment. The festival, which began in 1971, attracts more than 100,000 visitors each year. Learn more at www.myshrimpfest.com.

What: Books-A-Million will celebrate the grand opening of its Foley store with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. in partnership with the Foley Chamber of Commerce. On Oct. 11, activities will include a face painter, balloon artist and an appearance by Belle from “Beauty and the Beast” from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Guests will receive tote bags and cookies while supplies last.

What: Historic Blakeley State Park will kick off fall programming with a day of activities including art instruction, a kids program by a local search and rescue team, a seasonal lunch cruise to Blue Gill Restaurant and a guided ghost hunt with the Ghost Hunting Housewives. What: The Bay Minette Recreation Department, Novelis and Sunset Cruisers will host a free bike repair day at Kids Park. Volunteers will repair and refurbish bicycles from 9 a.m. to noon. Since its start, the Bike Rescue project has repaired more than 50 bikes for community members.

What: The Patch by Lillian Cattle Company will host a National Farmers Day celebration with family-friendly activities and attractions. The KidzBiz Market returns, offering children a chance to showcase and sell homemade goods. Vendors include Easy Peasy Lemonade, Slay’s Nursery, Jubilee Clay Earrings, Sam’s Sourdough, Fresh Faith Freshies, DIY Candles, Miss Jess’s Face Painting, Sweet Meltdown, Charmed & Linked Permanent Jewelry, Peggy Crowe’s Creations and Suzanna Duke’s Crochet Collection. Visitors can also stay for Flashlight Night from 8-10 p.m. and explore the mazes after dark.

What: The Baldwin County Genealogical Society will host historian Mike Bunn, director of Historic Blakeley State Park, for his presentation “The Southern Metropolis: Life in Antebellum Mobile.” Bunn is the author or co-author of several history books and recipient of numerous awards. What: The Baldwin County Conservative Coalition will host the Faith Family Freedom Festival at Fairhope North Beach Park Pavilion. The family-friendly event includes free food, music, games and door prizes.

What: Downtown OWA will host Halloween events every weekend in October. On Oct. 11, activities include Howl-o-ween, pumpkin tic-tac-toe, broomstick racing, witch hat ring toss and festive photo ops from 2-8 p.m. On Oct. 12, kids’ activities and photo ops run from 4-7 p.m., followed by Island BOOvie Night showing “Halloweentown” at 6 p.m. Visit https://visitowa.com/halloween-at-owa/ for more information.

What: The 15th Annual South Alabama Out of the Darkness Walk for suicide prevention and awareness will feature resource tables, food provided by Daphne Utilities, entertainment, a Memory Wall for photos of loved ones, a two-mile walk around Old Town Daphne and a butterfly release. Participants are encouraged to register to walk, form teams or donate at http://afsp.org/Daphne.

What: The Flora-Bama Lounge & Package will celebrate Oktoberfest with complimentary German food, a gift shop discount and a free drink for guests 21 and older.
