The Beli opens new location at the Wharf in Orange Beach

ORANGE BEACH — The Beli has opened the doors to its new location at The Wharf in Orange Beach.

Having opened over Easter weekend, the Beli has been a favorite of locals and visitors since their first days in Gulf Shores, aiming to provide a fast and friendly service through sandwiches, salads and breakfast served daily.

Anna Beth Ryan, owner and head chef, said unlike their previous location in Gulf Shores, at 408 W. Beach Blvd., which was more outdoors and is now the third location of High Tide Daiquiris and Mimosas, The Beli's new location at The Wharf is inside within The Wharf's original shopping center, where Murder Point Oysters used to be, allowing them to operate through most weather circumstances. They also have double the space compared to their previous location.

"This is just the best place you could ever do it, and we are very fortunate that we got that opportunity," Ryan said about moving into The Wharf.

The Beli, whose long name is the Original Beach Deli, serves several specialty sandwiches, their most popular of which is the "Big Momma," a sandwich stuffed with melted provolone and feta, turkey, jalapeños, raspberry jam and hot sauce between two slices of toasted sourdough bread. Other sandwiches include the "Miss V," which features spicy pimento cheese and meat such as turkey and salami, and "Smokey Joe," which has smoked chicken breast and pepper jack cheese topped with a fried egg, bacon and chive mayo on a toasted hero roll.

Ryan said she hopes to expand through potential franchising across the country and wants to make the brand something they can support for years to come.

"I want to run a hospitality company until the day I die, and I want all these people that work for me to work for me for the next 50 years," Ryan said. "I want to put food on their plates and in their kids' mouths. I want all of the people that work for me to come up with and make it in life."

The Beli at The Wharf is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
