Setting a school record is a pretty incredible feat, but that wasn’t good enough for Robertdale’s Noah McDaniel.

The senior broke his own mark at the Baldwin County Championships Meet last Tuesday, and his efforts earned him Gulf Coast Media’s latest Athlete of the Week honor after public voting concluded Tuesday evening.

McDaniel placed first among all boys at the 5K event with a time of 16:27.49, which was 13 seconds faster than the second-place runner.

Additionally, the record-setting runner also helped guide the Golden Bears to a fifth place finish out of 10 teams overall.

Our other nominees for the week include Gulf Shores defensive end Kingston Gardner, Daphne setter Khloe Smith and Fairhope swimmer Pearson Jenkins.

Be sure to check back here Monday at noon to cast your vote in GCM’s next Athlete of the Week ballot!

And if you would like to nominate an athlete for this weekly polling, email parker@gulfcoastmedia.com or message our social media pages (@GCMSportsAL) with information on their accomplishments, applicable personal info (grade, position, etc.) and a photo(s).

With that being said, GCM is also always happy to share any other local sports content from Baldwin County. To any coach, parent or athlete, feel free to send over any written work, photos or videos through the same mediums.
