DHS girl scout receives United Nations Youth Achievement Award for project

MOBILE — Lexi Guillory, a student at Daphne High School, received a United Nations Youth Achievement Award due to her humanitarian work she did on her Girl Scout Gold Award project.

Dr. Jeanne Fox, Lexi’s Gold Award advisor, nominated her for the award.

Lexi refurbished the wetlands at Daphne Middle School for her Gold Award project. Lexi’s idea for the project came about because of her desire to provide knowledge about nature to the elementary- and middle-school students of Daphne.

She said she wanted to share her passion for the environment and in area where “neglect, abuse and deterioration have taken its toll.”

Lexi is invited to the official ceremony of the Youth Achievement Award 2007 at the United Nations, during the 4th Annual Youth Assembly at the United Nations, where Olympic medalists and Kathy Ireland, supermodel, film star, entrepreneur and philanthropist, will give recognition for humanitarian service to the award recipients.

Lexi is a student at Daphne High School and a member of Girl Scout Troop 311.
