The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) is actively recruiting for its new Cadet Program, offering a unique opportunity for young adults interested in law enforcement and public safety careers.

Designed for students ages 14 to 18, the BCSO Cadet Program provides year-round, weekly training and education until participants "age out" of the program. Organizers hope the experience will inspire cadets to pursue careers in law enforcement or other public safety professions, with some even joining the BCSO ranks upon completing the program.

The program focuses on mentorship and community service, equipping young adults with practical knowledge, hands-on skills and experiences led by public safety professionals. In addition to building character and physical fitness, the training emphasizes respect for the rule of law, human rights and civil rights.

The Cadet Program is free for participants, though regular attendance is required to remain enrolled. Cadets will also have the chance to participate in competitions, receive uniforms and engage in various public safety activities throughout the year.

The first informational class will take place on Sept.24, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the BCSO Annex II, located in the Regions Building at 22070 AL-59 in Robertsdale.

According to BCSO, program advisors have been visiting schools across Baldwin County to share information and encourage students to get involved. However, if a student missed that day or if advisors haven't been to your child's school yet, you can still get involved.
