Police remove student from Foley Middle School amid "potential threat"

Posted

This morning, Sept. 17, the Foley Police Department responded to a potential threat to Foley Middle School.

The situation is under control with officers on school grounds, according to the police department and City of Foley.

“We would like to commend the students involved in bringing this forward. The students reported this in the right way by informing school staff of the situation. By following proper channels and allowing procedures to kick in, it was handled very efficiently and safely,” a statement read.

The Foley Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident, but at this time, department officials say they feel confident the situation has been handled. The student has been removed from campus with possible charges pending.

The police department will maintain a presence on campus the rest of the day.
