Daphne rallied from a 16-7 deficit and rattled off 28 unanswered points to secure a 35-22 rivalry win over the Fairhope Pirates at home.
Sophomore quarterback Jaylyn Thibodeaux threw one touchdown (5 yards to a wide-open junior CJ Gardner) and ran one touchdown (12 yards) to complement a 59-yard punt return for a touchdown from junior Jaecyn Myles. Senior Mikkel Willoughby capped the Trojans’ scoring with an 8-yard rush out of the Wildcat formation with 10 minutes left in regulation.
Fairhope scored with 2 minutes remaining thanks to a 2-yard rush from sophomore Trey Garner and although the ensuing two-point conversion failed, Pirate junior Grant Thompson delivered a successful onside kick for a second week in a row.
Daphne junior Edrick Williams sealed the deal for the hosts with an interception to punctuate the Trojans’ effort that also included a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from freshman Labrayln Coleman to open the game. Daphne improved to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in Class 7A Region 1 with a home game against Robertsdale on the Week 10 docket.
Fairhope got on the scoreboard early with a safety after Thibodeaux recovered a fumble in the end zone. Pirate senior quarterback Jackson Robertson escaped from pressure and scrambled to deliver a dime to junior Fisher Southall and converted a 35-yard touchdown to give Fairhope its first lead of the night. Senior Jahaven Johnson extended the Pirates’ lead with a 14-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter.
With an identical 4-2 record in region play, Fairhope fell to 5-4 overall but both the Pirates and Trojans officially locked in playoff berths in the eight-team group. Foley and Alma-Bryant sat behind them in fifth place but already have four region losses and have been eliminated from playoff contention with MGM (6-0) and Baker (5-1) leading the pack.
Bayside Academy Admirals 10, Excel Panthers 0
A third shutout, and fifth single-digit effort, helped Bayside Academy take one step closer to claiming a Class 3A Region 1 title. The Admirals entered as the 31st-ranked defense in the AHSAA, as well as the fifth-ranked unit in their classification, then lowered their average point allowance to 9.6 per game.
The win helped Bayside Academy set up an undefeated clash against No. 1 T.R. Miller with the region crown on the line next week at Freedom Field in Daphne. The Admirals will enter 7-1 overall and 5-0 in region as the Tigers will be 8-0 overall and 5-0 in region coming off a bye week.
Foley Lions 34, Davidson Warriors 18
Also in Class 7A Region 1, Foley used a string of 21 unanswered points to storm toward a 34-18 win over Davidson at home.

With only 1:45 remaining in the first half, junior quarterback Nelson Thompson hooked up with senior Cooper Hermecz on a 28-yard passing touchdown before fellow senior Sam McClellan delivered a sack to keep the Lions’ lead at 20-12 at halftime.
