Rileigh & Raylee Angel Ride Foundation of Montrose began in 2002 and, to date, has raised over $500,000 for special-needs children.
During the past five years, the foundation has provided more than 400 disbursements. Funds have been provided to children and their families in Baldwin, Mobile and Escambia counties. Disbursements have also included families in Mississippi as well as the Pensacola area.
The Rileigh & Raylee Angel Ride Foundation assists children 18 years old and younger. The conditions vary with each child. Past assists include heart surgery, glasses, kidney transplants, prescription medicines, travel, lodging and other expenses not covered by insurance.
Funds are raised by several events, including the annual Angel Ride, held the first weekend in November. This event involves a scenic motorcycle ride that begins and ends in Fairhope. More than 2,000 riders take part in the ride, which is followed with a musical concert later in the evening.
The concert is open to ride participants and nonbikers and has included major entertainment acts, such as the Charlie Daniels Band, .38 Special and LoneStar, to name a few.
