Vote for Gulf Coast Media’s Athlete of the Week: Oct. 5-Oct. 11

As the feelings of fall (hopefully) begin to take over the local area, Gulf Coast Media’s next Athlete of the Week poll is currently live on our website.

Four athletes from Baldwin County will be included in the voting each week, which will open at noon on Mondays and close at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays.

Individuals can only vote for their chosen athlete once, with the winner being announced on GCM’s website and social media pages soon after polling concludes.

This week, we have a speedy swimmer and three standouts from the gridiron making up the list of candidates.

To start, Gulf Shores’ Major Hudspeth made it look easy last Thursday against Elberta. The sophomore signal-caller completed all 10 of his passes for 168 yards and four touchdowns during the first half of his team’s 49-6 victory, and he now owns a 75% completion mark through seven games.

Meanwhile, Snook Christian’s Colton Givens produced a Herculean effort during his team’s road game against Northside Methodist. The rangy two-way player carried the ball a dozen times for 114 yards, tacked on 271 passing yards, found the end zone three times and even recorded six total tackles and a fumble recovery in a true do-it-all effort.

Elsewhere, Fairhope’s Katelyn Grant starred at the 2026 Fairhope Invitational Meet on Thursday, as the senior swimmer helped propel the Lady Pirates to a first-place finish with 524 total points (311 more than second place). Grant placed third in the 200-yard IM and first in the 100-yard butterfly individually, while she was part of the Fairhope relay teams who also placed second in the 200-yard IM and first in the 200-yard freestyle.

And lastly, Bayside Academy’s Walker Collins has been one of the Admirals’ top targets all season long, but the senior receiver produced perhaps his best performance to date during a 49-14 win over Providence Christian. Collins hauled in all eight of his targets for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and he currently leads the team in receptions (36) and receiving yards (483) while being tied for receiving touchdowns (seven).
