MERCY MEDICAL GOLF TOURNAMENT: Mercy Medical’s 27th Annual Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled for September 27 at Rock Creek in Fairhope.
Proceeds benefit Mercy’s Guardian Angel which cares for critically and terminally ill children of Mobile and Baldwin counties.
Silent auction items and raffle prizes include resort stays, weekend passes, signed sports memorabilia, football tickets and much more. The tournament format will be a four-person scramble with 8:30 a.m. shotgun followed by lunch and brief awards programs.

WORLD BEATER ALL-BEACH 10K: On Aug. 10 southern runners will have a rare and beautiful opportunity to race in the inaugural World Beater All-Beach 10K race and Relay on the beach from Cotton Bayou to Gulf Shores.
Race organizers have applied for world record sanctioning of the All-Beach 10K category, as well as the certification of the individual and relay team winners as world record holders.
The run starts at the State Park Cotton Bayou Beach complex (just east of the 161 - 182 intersection) and runs west to Gulf Shores, adjacent to the Gulf Shores Public Beach. The Relay portion of the race will start at 6:45 a.m.and the individual race will begin at 6:50 a.m.
Relay Teams are expected to provide excellent times in good conditions. The first two team members will run 2.0 miles each, and the anchor leg of the team will run 2.2 miles.
Transportation shuttles will be provided before and after the race between parking sites at the State Park Main Beach Pavilion and the Gulf Shores Public Beach, and the starting line and relay points. L’Arche of Mobile is the charitable beneficiary of the race.

SHORT GAME AND PUTTING CLINICS: Gulf Coast Golf Academy Lead Instructor Rea Shuessler and special guest Rick Wright will host Short Game and Putting Clinics Aug. 6-8.
Wright is a Nationally recognized putting expert and considered one of the pioneers of putter fitting developing the first comprehensive putting fitting system with partner Kirk Currie which was licensed by Slazenger Golf in 1996. He personally fit Jack Nicklaus during this time and he used this putter during the last few years of his career. Rick has also developed the putting TBar and high powered laser optics alignment putting aid both used by over 400 hundred PGA Instructors and 170 College Golf Programs.
The clinics will have two sessions each day. All clinics will cover all aspects of the short game plus a personalized evaluation of putting and putter by Wright. The morning clinic will be from 8 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. and the afternoon clinic will be from 1-5:15 p.m. Each clinic will be limited to five students each. Rea Schuessler will cover all short game instruction to include chipping, pitching, sand and partial to full wedges.
The cost $175 per clinic. The clinics will take place at Peninsula (Aug. 6), Craft Farms (Aug. 7) and Kiva Dunes (Aug. 8).

BAY AREA GRINNELL RODEO IS AUG. 3: The 12th annual Bay Area Grinnell Rodeo is Aug. 3 with a launch from Lower Bryant’s landing on Hwy. 225 in Stockton.
A pre-tournament meeting is Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Wright’s Automotive on D’Olive Street in Bay Minette. The pre-tournament meeting is recommended but not required as entries will be accepted Saturday morning at the launch site.
The entry fee is $80 per boat with a lunker and launch included.
