Baldwin County Education Coalition’s annual Golf Classic hit the links Sept. 10 at Rock Creek Golf Club, bringing together 120 golfers and raising $56,718 to support public education across Baldwin County.
Hosted in partnership with Baldwin County Sewer Service, the sold-out 14th Annual Golf Classic featured 36 teams for an afternoon of competition, community connection and fundraising. The event has now generated $407,136 in net proceeds for education over its 14-year history.
Baldwin County Sewer Service launched the tournament 14 years ago and selected the Baldwin County Education Coalition as its beneficiary because the Coalition serves students and educators throughout the county. Since then, the tournament has grown into the Coalition’s largest fundraising event and one of Baldwin County’s premier golf tournaments.
Players began the day with lunch before the 1 p.m. shotgun start, then took to Rock Creek’s greens for an afternoon featuring complimentary beverages and cigars, contests, door prizes and friendly competition. The day wrapped up with dinner, awards and recognition of the tournament’s top teams and individual winners.
Underground, Inc. took first place, followed by Identity Signs in second, BCSS Team III – Mayor Teal in third and SA Recycling in fourth.
Judah Tally of BCSS Team III claimed the Longest Drive honors, while Jesse Greer of WKRG took Closest to the Pin.
The competition also offered a chance to roll the dice — literally. Players from Quincy Compressor and BCSS Team II, the two highest-scoring teams of the day, had the opportunity to turn their finishes into a $2,500 prize through the Golf Classic’s Dice Roll. Two players from each team took their shot, but the prize went unclaimed.
The Golf Classic Blanton’s Giveaway added another prize to the day, with participants entered for a chance to win a complete eight-bottle set of Blanton’s Original Single Barrel Bourbon. Jordan Ammons of Dewberry was selected as this year’s winner.
While the tournament provided plenty of reasons to keep score, its impact extends beyond the course.
Over the past 14 years, local businesses, organizations and community members have supported the Golf Classic as a way to invest in the Coalition’s efforts to address educational needs where public funding falls short. The $407,136 in net proceeds generated through the tournament have helped the Coalition invest in programs and initiatives that strengthen public education and create opportunities for students and educators throughout Baldwin County.
On its website, the Coalition said the tournament’s continued success is made possible through the support of Baldwin County Sewer Service, its longstanding Presenting Sponsor, as well as corporate, luncheon, dinner, beverage, team and tee sponsors.
The Coalition also recognized the 120 players, sponsors, volunteers, community partners and Rock Creek Golf Club for their roles in the 2026 event.
The organization said the continued support allows it to “bring together resources from across our community and put them to work for Baldwin County public schools.”
For those looking to tee up their support for public education, the Coalition plans to return to the greens for the 2027 Golf Classic.
