The United States Sports University has been accepted as a full member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, with membership set to begin July 1.

USSU received approval from the NAIA Council of Presidents and will begin competition in the Continental Athletic Conference during the 2026-27 academic year with plans to transition to the Southern States Athletic Conference in 2027-28.

"We are incredibly honored to be accepted into the NAIA and join a membership defined by integrity, competition and a true commitment to the student-athlete experience," USSU Athletic Director Shealynn Miller stated in a USSU press release. "This is a tremendous step forward for our athletic department, creating elevated opportunities for competition while strengthening our ability to compete both regionally and nationally. The NAIA's education-focused mission and 'Champions of Character' values align seamlessly with who we are and what we strive to provide for our student-athletes. As an association built on the belief in the 'Right Way to Play,' the NAIA represents exactly the type of environment we want for our programs. We believe this will be a great home for our student-athletes to grow, compete, and succeed alongside institutions that share our commitment to character and excellence."

The Eagles launched intercollegiate athletics in 2024 and have already recruited more than 150 student-athletes who field nine varsity teams. Before accepting the NAIA invitation, USSU competed (and currently does this spring) independently against programs from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Recently, USSU athletes and programs have earned weekly honors and national recognition through the USCAA.

Currently, there are no released schedules for USSU’s fall athletic season as additional details are expected to be announced at a later date according to the university’s press release.
