Athletic Director Mark Ingram and UAB announced Fairhope native Megan Curry as the school’s seventh head softball coach Monday.
Curry arrives to lead the Lady Blazers following two successful seasons as head coach at Samford University, a stint that saw her guide the program to 61 total victories and a pair of top-three finishes in the Southern Conference.
And it’s a family affair for the Curry’s in Birmingham, as Megan’s husband Parker has been on staff with the UAB baseball program since 2023. He previously worked at nearby Samford as well, which was also where the pair first met while they both played sports during their collegiate years.
Initially born in Louisville, Kentucky, Curry moved to Fairhope in 2006 and went on to become a wildly accomplished player for both her high school and Samford. She still owns the Lady Bulldogs’ single-season records for batting average (.437 in 2015) and doubles (24 in 2016).
