Baldwin County's reputation as one of Alabama's premier softball pipelines continues to gain momentum, as three former local standouts earned national recognition before taking the field at the collegiate level.

Daphne's Vic Moten, Orange Beach's Daigle Wilson and Baldwin County's Madilyn Byrd were all named to Softball America's Freshman Top 100, placing the former high school rivals among the nation's most promising newcomers.

Moten, a true freshman pitcher at Alabama, arrives in Tuscaloosa with one of the most decorated prep résumés in state history. She was ranked the No. 9 overall player nationally, the No. 4 pitcher and the top player in Alabama while earning Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year honors in 2023 and 2024. A three-time All-County selection (2022-24), Moten was a two-time First-Team All-State and All-Region honoree.

Her senior season capped a dominant career, as she was named Class 7A Player of the Year and a Super All-State selection after posting a 0.78 ERA with 321 strikeouts over 144 innings while batting .438 with 13 home runs. As a junior, she recorded a 0.46 ERA over 212 innings, hit .407 with 15 home runs and led Daphne to a Class 7A state runner-up finish.

Wilson's path to Auburn was also defined by success. A five-time state champion at Orange Beach, Wilson helped power the Makos' rise to national prominence, highlighted by a 2024 MaxPreps National Championship. She earned All-State honors in all four varsity seasons and was selected to the Alabama North/South All-Star team in 2024.

National recruiting services consistently ranked Wilson among the top 25 players in the country and the No. 2 first baseman in her class. Wilson finished her high school career batting .436 with 287 hits, 332 runs scored, 145 RBIs and 234 stolen bases, ranking among Alabama's top five in stolen bases for three consecutive seasons and finishing second statewide in 2024.

Byrd is a true freshman pitcher at Florida Atlantic. She logged more than 400 innings during her career at Baldwin County, posting a 1.37 ERA and surpassing 1,000 career strikeouts during her senior season in 2025. Byrd also batted .246 with 10 home runs.

A three-time Class 6A All-State selection, Byrd represented south Alabama at the 2024 AHSAA North-South All-Star Game, teaming up with Moten while there. In the spring of 2024, Byrd helped lead the Tigers to their first state tournament appearance since 2022.
