Team Alabama ended a 31-year drought by capturing the 20th Men's Southeastern Challenge Match title at Rivermont Golf Club in Johns Creek, Georgia, on Oct. 19.
Foley native Logan Rawson competed for Alabama, winning his singles round on the final day in a match against Georgia to help propel the team past the drought.
Team Alabama finished with 25.5 total points, ahead of Florida (20.5) and Georgia (17). Alabama's victory marked its first in the competition since 1994, breaking the decades-long streak dominated by the neighboring states. Over the two days of competition, Alabama won every category across foursomes, four-ball and singles matches.
The event, held every other year, features 12-man teams representing Alabama, Florida and Georgia. Each roster includes seven mid-amateurs (age 25 and older), one amateur (age 21 and older) and four senior amateurs (age 50 and older) selected by their respective state golf associations.
