SPANISH FORT — You will never see two of the most important actors in Spanish Fort High’s upcoming production of “Little Shop of Horrors.”
Freshman Georgia Wilkins and sophomore Aubrey Wilhite slink, crawl and work their way around the show’s peripheral to give life to Audrey II, the flesh-eating plant that steals the show.
As the plant's puppeteers, the pair said finding those hidden places to be part of the action was the hardest part.
“Really learning how to flow with it rather than against it was tough,” Wilhite said.
Wilkins controls Audrey’s head and mouth while Wilhite plays the greenery’s vines.
Even without lines, there is plenty of acting for the pair to tackle.
“We use a lot of sharp movements and turning to really get that attitude she has,” Wilkins said.
Wilhite added, “Georgia does a lot of elongated hand movements that are really cool to put that sass into it.”
“Little Shop of Horrors” is a horror, comedy rock musical with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman.
The Broadway show’s doo-wop tunes were made mainstream when the musical jumped to film in 1986.
