Orange Beach prepares for 2024 Freedom Fest in October

Posted

Freedom Fest is returning to Orange Beach this fall, and recent contracts approved by city council reveal two shows attendees can enjoy.

Orange Beach authorized a pair of performance agreements this week for the city's annual Freedom Fest -- one with McLean Motorsports Productions for the anchor car show entitled Bama Coast Cruisin', the other with the Gulf Coast Gun Collectors Association for a collectible firearms show at the Orange Beach Event Center.

The fourth-annual Orange Beach Freedom Fest will be a two-day event held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 4-5 at The Wharf. The Bama Coast Cruisin' anchor car show will take place both days on Main Street and a portion of Wharf Parkway without any restrictions as to the vehicles that can be entered.

"The anchor event will bring economic growth to local businesses and support Freedom Fest," the resolution states. "The anchor event will provide family-friendly entertainment and an economic benefit to the city. The city will provide $5,000 to support the event."

The collectible firearms show, the event's co-anchor attraction, will be held Oct. 5-6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $10 per person, with children 15 and under free.

"The (firearms show) will provide a safe environment, supported by the Orange Beach Police Department, for the encouragement of organized rifle, shotgun and pistol collection, as well as educating the public in the safe handling and proper care of firearms," the city outlines.

In addition to the car and firearms shows, Freedom Fest will also include a Kids' Zone by the ferris wheel, patriotic military booths, arts/crafts and outdoor vendors, food vendors, live music with entertainment provided by the Flora-Bama and CoastAL, a motorcycle and jeep rally, first responder demos and more.
