Tickets to the AHSAA’s Softball State Tournament will be punched in Gulf Shores as the Sportsplex plays host the South Regional Championships starting on Monday, May 6.
Seven local teams qualified for the regional round with top-two finishes in their postseason area tournaments.
Orange Beach (Class 4A), Gulf Shores (Class 5A), Spanish Fort (Class 6A) and Daphne (Class 7A) will enter as top seeds and area champions. Elberta (5A), Baldwin County (6A) and Fairhope (7A) advanced with runner-up finishes in their respective area tournaments.
All will continue their road to Oxford for the state tournament in Gulf Shores, except for the Class 7A representatives who will compete in the Central bracket in Montgomery.

Class 4A
LAMP at Orange Beach – May 6, 9 a.m.
The Makos got one step closer to their fourth consecutive state title with wins over St. Michael Catholic (15-0) and Mobile Christian (13-0 and 8-0) at home.
Eighth-grader MK McMullan registered an 11-strikeout shutout in the clincher. Ava Hodo, Daigle Wilson, Teagan Revette and KG Favors complemented her effort with two-hit days at the plate.
Class 5A
Holtville at Gulf Shores – May 7, 10:45 a.m.
The Dolphins were the first to punch their ticket to the next round.
Elberta at Brewbaker Tech – May 7, 10:45 a.m.
Since the Warriors started playing softball in the spring of 2019, they have made the regional bracket every postseason. A three-time area champion, Elberta enters as the runner-up qualifier for the second straight year.
The Warriors beat LeFlore 15-0 twice and fell to Gulf Shores in the area finals.
Class 6A
Park Crossing at Spanish Fort – May 6, 10:45 a.m.
Auburn-Montgomery signee Kennedy Sevcik’s two-run home run capped a four-run seventh inning that led to a 6-5, walk-off win for the Toros to capture their second straight area championship. Louisiana-Lafayette commit Haley Hart preceded the winning hit with a two-run single.
Spanish Fort also scored wins over McGill-Toolen (15-2) and another over Baldwin County (11-1).
Baldwin County at Pike Road – May 6, 10:45 a.m.
Florida Atlantic signee Madilyn Byrd provided two doubles and five RBIs to the Tigers’ efforts in the area championship.
Freshman Madisyn Williams lifted two home runs in Baldwin County’s 5-1 win to open the tournament against Robertsdale. The Tigers added a 13-2 win over Robertsdale to escape the elimination bracket.
Class 7A – Central (Montgomery)
Auburn at Daphne – May 6, 9 a.m.
The Class 7A Area 2 title came down to the “if necessary” game after Fairhope bounced back with a 5-2 win in eight innings to open play on Tuesday. Daphne responded with a 15-3 win to claim its first area championship since 2018.
In the clincher, Abby Johnson (3-for-4, 2 stolen bases) and Abby Newsom (2-for-4) both recorded a home run and 2 RBIs where Victoria Moten registered a double and a home run for 3 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. Hannah Newport also left the yard as Braylyn Swann pitched 3 innings and allowed 1 hit.
Fairhope at Central-Phenix City – May 6, 9 a.m.
Emma Stewart lifted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth to help the Pirates extend the Area 2 tournament. In the “if necessary” game, Stewart added another round-tripper and 2 RBIs.
Fairhope has made the regional tournament every year since the AHSAA added it to the softball postseason in 2008.
