Local leaders in Robertsdale officially broke ground Thursday on the city’s multimillion dollar amphitheater project.
Located at Honey Bee Park, plans for the facility will include a raised stage topped by a 5,000-square-foot metal roof, along with ground-level sloped seating and a backstage changing area. The project also includes other additions such as new bathrooms, expanded parking, landscaping and lighting.
The $3.4 million amphitheater project will be partially funded by a $2 million grant from Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act funds, announced in July 2023 as part of Gov. Kay Ivey’s $67 million plan for local projects, according to previous Gulf Coast Media reporting.
Robertsdale Mayor Charles Murphy said he hopes the amphitheater will be able to hold community and entertainment events in the local area such as school programs, local church gatherings and performances from special guest artists.
Construction on the new amphitheater at Honey Bee Park is expected to be completed sometime in 2026.
