The AHSAA state tennis tournaments have come to a close — and the week was highlighted by a pair of Baldwin County-native state champions from the 6A classification along with several other deep runs in Mobile this past week.

As promised, here are the results from the final two days of competition, featuring the 1A-3A and 6A brackets.

STATE CHAMPS

Gulf Shores' Tereza Mojs delivered one of the most dominant performances of the tournament, emerging as the county's lone girls state champion. Competing in Flight 1, Mojs battled through five rounds and controlled every match along the way, winning an impressive 30 sets en route to the 6A state title.

Spanish Fort freshman Lanny Wang claimed the county's only boys state championship, taking first place in Flight 2 singles with a commanding showing throughout the bracket.

SPANISH FORT BOYS (6A)

Beyond Wang's title victory, the Toros had several other competitors competing in the state tournament. In boys doubles, the teams of Caleb Maxwell/Jackson Lober, JD Hons/Owen McGough and Gillen Holley/Lanny Wang were all eliminated in the opening rounds.

In boys singles play, Gillen Holley advanced to the second round before being knocked out, while Owen McGough, Jackson Lober, Caleb Maxwell and J.D. Hons were all eliminated in the opening rounds of their respective flights.

BAYSIDE ACADEMY GIRLS (1A-3A)

Bayside had multiple competitors advance into the later rounds, highlighted by Sarah Adams and Anne Patton Gaillard, who each reached the semifinals in their singles flights — the deepest runs among the Admirals' girls.

Elsewhere in singles, Avery Fergus, Eleanor Laymon and Elizabeth Macpherson were eliminated in the second round, while Laura Mac Sheffield exited in the opening round.

In doubles competition, the teams of Elizabeth Coumanis/Avery Fergus and Elizabeth Macpherson/Eleanor Laymon were both eliminated in the opening rounds. Adams and Gaillard teamed up to win their first-round match before falling in the following round.

The Admirals had the best finish of any Baldwin County program throughout the week as well, taking 8th place in the girls 1A-3A standings.
