On a day meant to celebrate futures, it was Orange Beach softball that once again reminded everyone why the program has become one of the South's premier talent factories.
The Makos headlined South Baldwin County's National Signing Day with a star-studded group that reflects both championship pedigree and SEC-level firepower.
Head coach Shane Alexander was emotional while speaking about the 2026 signees continuing the tradition of excellence that is Mako softball.
"I am very proud of them for their next journey, but I want to remind them I still have them for about six months," Alexander said while addressing the signing day crowd. "We still have one more Blue (Map) trophy to get. Extremely excited for you (all) but it is kind of sad to see it coming to an end here in a few months."
Five Orange Beach standouts inked their college commitments, including a trio of SEC-bound players that have been a part of the five-straight state titles. Heading to Arkansas will be Katie King and Ava Hodo, two of the most decorated players in program history. Joining them in the Southeastern Conference is another seasoned varsity standout in Teagan Revette, who signed with Mississippi State.
Rounding out the group are Kenlie Williams, who signed with Faulkner University, and Addy Oldham, who is staying close to home at junior college powerhouse Northwest Florida State. Together, the five of them one-upped the 2024 Orange Beach class by one player. Alexander joked with the 2027 players in attendance, saying they needed to top that next year.
Just down the road, Gulf Shores softball also celebrated a multi-player signing class. Anna Leigh Price signed with the University of Mobile, Taylor Bjorgum announced her commitment to Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, Madi Nelson will continue her career at Holmes Community College and Neavah James is the program's lone Division-I signee heading to Middle Tennessee.
On the baseball side, Gulf Shores saw three Dolphins make their next-level decisions official. John Luke Stephens signed with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Jacob O'Bryan signed to Bishop State, and Trendon Beebe signed with the University of Mobile. Head coach Chris Jacks believes there will be a few more Dolphins joining them by signing after the 2026 season.
"This baseball world is clustered," Jacks said. "These college coaches will tell you, it's hard these days. There are a lot of transfer portal players and a lot of good baseball players out there. For us to be able to do this four to five years in a row, I am really proud of them and thankful for these three guys."
