Orange Beach softball honored with rings for fifth straight state title

ORANGE BEACH — Orange Beach’s softball dynasty added another chapter Tuesday night; a larger championship ring that adds to an already full trophy case.

During halftime of the Orange Beach girls basketball game against Saraland, the Makos were honored with a ring ceremony celebrating their fifth consecutive state championship, a run that now ties Pisgah for the most titles won in a row in Alabama high school softball history.

Players, coaches, managers and even community members involved with the team were recognized on the court with rings as the program reflected on a stretch that has firmly established Orange Beach as a nationwide powerhouse.

With five straight championships secured, the Makos now turn their focus toward a new pursuit — standing alone atop the record books. Back at the softball’s signing day, head coach Shane Alexander said there is a record they “won’t speak of” just yet. A sixth consecutive title this season would give Orange Beach sole possession of the longest championship streak in state history, adding yet another milestone to a program that is known for winning not just state titles, but national ones.

The Makos are bringing back over 70% of the 2025 team’s offensive production as well as multiple pitchers from that squad. Leading the way is a trio of now seniors Ava Hodo, Katie King and Teagan Revette who led the team in basically every offensive category. In the circle, Orange Beach has also added Faulkner University commit Kenlie Williams to the mix.

Last year, the Makos were crowned MaxPreps National Champions for a second consecutive season and posted a 46-2 record. Orange Beach is 205-31 during this five-year championship run.
