ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - The Orange Beach Fire Department will be hosting a National Registry Certification Class for Emergency Responders beginning Nov. 4 and ending Nov. 15.

Each day we will begin class at 8am and break for lunch around 11-12, continuing until approximately 4 p.m. each day, Monday through Friday each week.

The 45-hour class will be extended by a couple days for purposes of practicing skills evaluations, review of skills exams, and adequate review of the National Registry exam expectations.

Upon completion of this course, students will be required to take the National Registry exam to become certified on this level. This course not only meets, but exceeds the expectations of the prerequisites for the 160 hour Volunteer Firefighter Course.

Students are required to attend every day of the class. There will be NO make- up sessions available.

All students will be required to pass each test with a 75% or above. The class overall must be passed with a 75%, as well.

*Practical Skills are checked off in a manner that is also graded. Any final skills exams with a score below 85% are required to retake the skills portion of the course. ONE retest per each skills station is allowed on the day of the Final Skills Exam. Any other retests will have to be scheduled before the written test is available to the student.

Each student will be responsible for his or her own book and his or her own National Registry Exam fee which is $50 at time of registering to take the written exam.

Students must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license and have a high school diploma OR GED. All students should dress accordingly and in comfortable, but respectable clothing. Formal clothing or uniforms are not necessary.

Interested parties should contact Suzanne Moeller-OBFD Education Coordinator at 251-981-1608 or email at smoeller@obfd.org

Students can all register at the Fire Administration building in Orange Beach at 25855 John Snook Drive, Orange Beach, 36561.
