ROBERTSDALE, Ala. -- A Robertsdale man was arrested and a second suspect is being sought after Baldwin County Sheriff’s deputies say a methamphetamine lab caught fire and destroyed a travel trailer off of Patterson Road.
Harold Robbins, 42, of Robertsdale, was charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently in jail on an $18,000 bond.
According to a release issued Wednesday by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Command, volunteer units from Robertsdale, Gateswood, Rosinton and Elsanor responded to the fire around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
After the fire was extinguished, personnel reported finding items consistent with methamphetamine production. Sheriff’s deputies responded and Robbins, who owns the trailer, was detained at the scene.
Investigators from the Baldwin County Drug Task Force responded and located several “one pot” labs outside the trailer. Robbins admitted that he and another individual were manufacturing methamphetamine inside the trailer when the lab caught fire, according to the report.
According to the report, Robbins further stated the second subject fled the scene before fire units arrived. The second suspect was not located.
The trailer was completely destroyed.
