A ground breaking ceremony was held June 21 for the new Baldwin County Department of Human Resources building on the northwest side of the Baldwin County Central Annex building on Palmer Street in Robertsdale.
The new building will house the Child Welfare division, which is currently located in the Region’s Bank building on Highway 59, as well as some portions of the financial program presently located in Bay Minette.
Renee Massey, director of the Baldwin County DHR, said the Robertsdale location is ideal because it is centrally located.
“Our plan for the future is to continue to have a small office in bay Minette to serve our folks in the northern part of this very large county,” she said. Massey said the new building will be better suited to the work the agency does, particularly with children, than the offices on Highway 59.
Massey thanked the Baldwin County Commission for their support, recognized those in attendance for the ceremony and closed by saying, “We are very excited about the new facility and believe the new location will be beneficial in our service to our Baldwin County citizens.”
After the ceremony, Baldwin County Commissioner Wayne Gruenloh said, “We’ve been working on this for some time and I think it’s going to be good for the people of the county and good for DHR. It will make it easier for the citizens of the county who need these services,” he said.
