North Baldwin Infirmary Laboratory is preparing to celebrate Medical Laboratory Professionals Week April 21-25 with a week of themed events, community outreach and recognition for the vital work of laboratory professionals and pathologists.
Observed nationwide April 20-26, Lab Week honors the individuals who play a crucial role in health care through accurate testing, diagnostics and patient advocacy. This year's local theme, "Mystery Machine of Diagnostics: Another Case Solved by the Lab," highlights the lab's role in solving the complex puzzles behind patient care.
As part of the celebration, the lab, operated by LabCorp, will give back to the community by collecting donations for the Ecumenical Ministries of Bay Minette, a nonprofit that provides food assistance and other support services to local residents in need.
The American Society for Clinical Pathology promotes Lab Week as a chance to raise awareness about the importance of laboratory medicine. The organization encourages medical labs to share information with local communities, networks and health care professionals to help increase appreciation for the essential work these teams perform.
