Nineteen volleyball players named to all-county team

Daphne, Fairhope lead the way with four selections each on BCPS squad

Baldwin County Public Schools announced its all-county volleyball team which featured 19 student-athletes from local teams.

The Daphne Trojans and Fairhope Pirates led with four selections each, followed by three Spanish Fort Toros and Elberta Warriors, two Robertsdale Golden Bears and Baldwin County Tigers and one Foley Lion.

Fairhope (Class 7A) and Elberta (Class 5A) both finished as runners-up in its area tournaments before falling in the first round of the regional tournament. Spanish Fort claimed the Class 6A Area 2 championship before winning the regional tournament en route to a state runner-up finish in its first trip to the state finals since 2019.

The all-Baldwin County team would have quite the lineup between all-state players, athletes committed to the college ranks and key role players mixed in.

With Daphne’s Madison Hammond at Libero, the options at setter include Spanish Fort’s Alexis Belarmino and Daphne’s Lucy McCoy with Amara Haines from Elberta and Bailey Hope from Spanish Fort as some of the outside hitters.

Defensively, the middle blockers include Sophia Trombetta from Robertsdale, Jestiny Dixon from Foley and Saylor Bryant and Ella Stapleton from Baldwin County with Fairhope’s Payton Berry and Abby Nelson as some of the defensive specialists.

Elberta Warriors
