New lights to brighten Foley's Aaronville Park recreation areas

Posted

Evening games and gatherings will soon shine brighter at Aaronville Park after Foley City Council approved new lighting for the southwest Foley recreation area.

The council voted to install Musco Sports Lighting systems for one baseball field and two basketball courts that currently lack illumination. The project, purchased through Musco, is part of a broader effort to enhance the park’s accessibility and usability.

“This is to add LED Musco lighting on one ball field and two basketball courts that don't currently have any lighting,” said Jeff Lee, director of the Foley Parks and Recreation Department.

Lee said the addition will allow residents to enjoy the park’s facilities later into the evening, expanding recreation opportunities for local families and youth leagues.

The lighting project continues a series of upgrades at Aaronville Park this year. In August, the council approved plans to replace the pavilion and restroom building, with the new prefabricated restroom designed to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards. The city also authorized new fencing around the baseball field.

Initial plans for the park’s improvements were approved in 2023, marking a long-term commitment by Foley officials to modernize community recreation areas and increase accessibility.
