After announcing earlier this year that he would retire from Alabama public schools at the conclusion of the 2025-26 academic year, longtime Baldwin County coach and educator Mike Ebert is already set for his next chapter.
"I will coach anything," Ebert said back in March. "I don't want to get too far away from Baldwin County because I will have four grandchildren (here)."
Well, Ebert will be heading just a few miles up Highway 59 as Snook Christian Academy announced last week that the former Foley coach will join the Eagles' athletics department for the 2026-27 school year — serving as associate athletic director with a focus on community involvement and program development.
In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Ebert was named the Eagles' head baseball coach and will also assist with the football program this fall as Snook transitions into the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
"Coach Ebert has had a very successful career in Baldwin County for the last 30 years, and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the SCA campus," Snook Christian stated in the announcement. "We look forward to adding a successful, seasoned coach to our baseball program and athletics department as a whole."
The move comes just months after Ebert announced he would step away from Foley High School and Alabama public education, closing a nearly three-decade career that has made him one of Baldwin County's most recognizable and likable coaches.
Ebert's coaching career includes numerous local schools, including Foley, Baldwin County High, Summerdale Middle, Perdido School and J. Larry Newton School.
And though he most recently served as Foley's head softball coach and health teacher, he is perhaps best known for his success on the baseball diamond. Snook Christian is adding a man of many trades to its athletics department — one who just so happens to be the winningest baseball coach in Foley history as well.
