Parrot Heads, get ready for piña coladas and getting caught in the rain. Meeting of the Minds returns to Gulf Shores Oct. 22-27.

Jimmy Buffett's fan club, Parrot Heads in Paradise, moved its annual event to Gulf Shores in 2023. It was the first time in 30 years the event was held outside of Florida.

MOTM 2024 will be held across three venues: The Hangout, LuLu's and the Flora-Bama. Registration opened in March. General registration is $229, and VIP registration is $529. The event website promises attendees will get over 40 hours of great music along with several days of friendship, fun, food, optional meetings and seminars.

If you have never been to MOTM but would like to attend this year, you will need to become a member of a Parrot Heads in Paradise chapter like the Lower Alabama PHs based in Gulf Shores or Mobile Bay PHC based in Mobile.

MOTM brought thousands of Jimmy Buffett fans, live performances and fun to Gulf Shores in October 2023. Along with the parties, the thousands of participants left a positive impact on the area.

After the 2023 event, Gulf Coast Media spoke with Ally Dorrough, communications and marketing manager for Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Tourism. Dorrough said that MOTM presented over $37,000 to various charities and local organizations, including Jimmy Buffett's Singing for Change Charitable Foundation, Bra's Across the Causeway, South Baldwin Community Theatre, Christian Service Center, Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, Lone Palm Foundation, PHIP Scholarship Fund and the TRMA Artists Relief Fun.

The organization also donated 132 pints of blood at the MOTM blood drive and 115 toys and 61 pairs of shoes to the Christian Service Center.

The schedule and entertainment lineup for the 2024 MOTM has not yet been released, but the date for the Skippin & Sippin Meeting of the Minds 5K and 1-mile Walk is Oct. 26 at LuLu's Gulf Shores. The public assembly permit was approved by Gulf Shores City Council during their June 24 council meeting.
