Two Bay Minette families, with the help of Habitat for Humanity, will open the doors to their new homes in Stockton this weekend.
A dedication ceremony will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. for the two new homes.
The build began April 7 on Rice Creek road in Stockton. Alvin Pitts, a local lay minister from the area and the Brackin family of Bay Minette will enjoy a day with their friends and family in celebration of their new homes.
Volunteer coordinator, Brenda Lowther said that people who have worked on the houses and friends and family have been invited for pot luck and a blessing of the homes.
The Brackin family home is the eighth Women Build project in the county. To date 55 homes have been built by Habitat in Baldwin County.
Over 350 Habitat homes have been built by women crews in the United States.
Habitat in Baldwin County is affiliated with the Ecumenical Christian Ministry. To be considered for a Habitat home, the affiliate committee considers the level of need, willingness to become partners with the Habitat program and the ability to repay the no-interest loan.
