Gulf Shores’ Carter Davis among nation’s top sprinters after New Balance Nationals

Posted

Gulf Shores junior and nationally recognized football prospect Carter Davis turned in an impressive showing on the track at the New Balance Nationals in Boston last week, building his record-setting year across multiple sprint events.

Competing against some of the nation's top athletes, Davis won his heat in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes. He finished the meet ranked among the top 25 nationally in the 60 and inside the top 100 in the 200.

Davis' performance in Boston also elevated his standing within the state. He continues to hold Alabama's fastest 60-meter time this season after posting a 6.76 at the AHSAA indoor state meet, and he now ranks No. 3 in the state in the 200-meter dash following his nationals showing.

"The experience was great," Davis said. "Especially knowing that I'm running with some of the fastest kids in the nation, very blessed. I really don't take it as me being the fastest in Alabama; I just keep working and improving my game."

With the indoor season complete and an individual state title already in Davis' grasp, he now shifts his focus to outdoor competition. And Davis has already made an impact for the Dolphins there, recording a 10.53 in the 100-meter dash at the Eagle Invitational in Pine Forest back in late February — a time tied for the fastest in Alabama this season and placing him among the top 20 nationally.

The Dolphins will hit the track and field again this coming weekend when they host the 2026 St. Patrick's Day meet at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex on March 21.
