Foley High School has tapped one of Alabama’s most accomplished program builders to lead its football program, former Opelika head coach Bryan Moore.
The Baldwin County Board of Education approved the hiring on the night of Jan. 7. According to a press release shared on social media, Moore was recommended by Foley Principal Jessica Webb following what the school described as an extensive, multi-state search.
“There was a lot of interest in this position,” Webb said. “Coach Moore’s reputation and body of work stood out and best aligned with the expectations and traditions of our school and our city.”
Moore brings an elite résumé to Foley, posting a 105-28 record over 11 seasons as a head coach at Eufaula, Jasper, Hartselle and Opelika. His teams reached the playoffs every year, never lost more than four games in a season and won 10 or more games five times — all while coaching at the Class 5A level or higher. Most recently, Moore led Opelika to its first-ever Class 7A state championship appearance in 2025, earning Alabama 7A Coach of the Year honors in the process.
“My wife, Lindsey, and I are incredibly excited for the opportunity to come to Foley and invest in such a special community,” Moore was quoted saying in the press release. “Our goal is to win championships and, more importantly, develop championship people.”
Moore inherits a Foley program seeking a historic breakthrough, replacing Deric Scott who led the Lions for six seasons. The program has never reached a state championship game and has only one semifinal appearance, in 2014. Foley has just seven 10-win seasons in its history — none since 2007 — of playing football since 1924.
Foley was a young team full of potential this past season despite their record. Moore will work with a talented core that includes quarterback Makai Holmes and Jaxon Dixon as he begins his attempt to put another program back on the map.
