Fairhope alum Luke Freer's consistency on special teams earned him all-conference recognition for a second consecutive season, capping off his Air Force football career by being named an honorable mention All-Mountain West punter.
The 2025 honor follows a second-team all-conference selection in 2024.
Freer averaged 44.5 yards per punt in 2025 while ranking among the conference's most reliable specialists. He totaled 1,024 yards on 23 punts, recorded just one touchback, dropped 11 kicks inside the 20-yard line and delivered eight punts of 50 yards or more. His longest punt this season traveled 60 yards.
Freer's path to Division I football success began in Baldwin County at Fairhope High School, where he played football and soccer. He earned first-team all-state honors in football, second-team all-state in soccer and helped the Pirates capture a 7A Region 1 football championship in 2021. Freer also nailed a 59-yard field goal during his Fairhope career — the third-longest in Alabama high school history.
The honorable mention honors ended a productive career for Freer at the Air Force Academy. He punted 69 times for 3,135 yards, posting a 45.4-yard career average with only four touchbacks. Nearly a third of his punts pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line, 24 went at least 50 yards and he had a longest punt of 72 yards.
