Baldwin County's top athletes are constantly turning heads, and with Gulf Coast Media's debut of Baldwin County Buzz: Who's Heating Up, readers will now get a weekly look at the players and teams making noise across the county.

With that being said, kicking off the series debut is Orange Beach's boys basketball team and Foley standout Amiyah Carvin turning in several dominant performances this past week.

The Makos extended their winning streak to five games and improved to 19-5 on the season with a pair of convincing victories. Orange Beach earned 20-point wins over Mobile Christian and Bozeman, continuing a surge that has vaulted them to No. 3 in the Class 4A rankings and into the top 60 statewide.

Foley's Amiyah Carvin earns Athlete of the Week after a scoring frenzy over a two-game stretch. Currently, the senior point guard ranks fifth in the state in scoring, averaging 27 points per game.

This past week, Carvin combined for 54 points and 12 rebounds, highlighted by a 30-point, nine-rebound performance in a 48-43 win over Daphne. She added 24 points and three rebounds in a 46-37 loss to Fairhope, accounting for more than half of Foley's scoring.

With playoff brackets forming as the basketball regular season comes to an end, both the Makos and Carvin are heating up at the right time to make deep postseason runs.
