FOLEY, Ala. — An Orange Beach man remains in critical condition after a two-vehicle collision Sunday night.
According to Foley Police Officer Jack Nelson, a Jeep containing four adults in their mid-20s and an 11-year-old collided with a Chrysler Sebring that was driving by a 43-year-old Foley woman at the intersection of Foley Beach Expressway and County Road 20 at around 7:45 p.m. Her passenger, a 42-year-old man, suffered severe injuries that required him to be air-lifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., where he remains.
Nelson said the woman, as well as two people in the Jeep, went to South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley for minor injuries, were treated and released. He added that following the wreck, traffic was backed up.
“We had the south-bound lane and County Road 20 shut down a little over an hour,” Nelson said, adding that authorities were on the scene for about three hours.
According to Nelson, the cause of the wreck remains unclear.
“We’re still investigating,” he said.
The result of that investigation will determine whether charges will be filed. It’s also unclear whether alcohol was a factor.
“I won’t know until we get the blood-draw back,” Nelson said.
