Foley woman charged with felony after domestic stabbing incident

Posted

A domestic dispute turned violent late Wednesday night, resulting in a stabbing on the 21000 block of U.S. Highway 98 in Foley.

The incident, which occurred around 11 p.m. on June 19, has led to serious charges for a Foley woman.

Shau Yanite Pickens, 43, was arrested after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend in the abdomen during an argument. The Foley Police Department responded to the scene, discovering that the long-time dating partners had been involved in a heated altercation that escalated into physical violence.

Pickens’ boyfriend was initially rushed to South Baldwin Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. He is being treated for a non-life-threatening stab wound and is expected to recover.

Following a thorough on-site investigation, police gathered evidence and information leading to Pickens’ arrest. She has been charged with domestic violence in the 2nd degree, a felony, and is currently held at Foley City Jail, awaiting transport to Baldwin County Jail.

The Foley Police Department continues to investigate the case, examining all aspects, including possible self-defense claims.

“We are dedicated to interrupting the cycle of violence commonly associated with domestic violence and will continue to work toward that end in this case,” the department said in a news release.

Further details will not be released until the investigation concludes.
